Tiri Pawanda [single]

by Streams of Soan

/

about

Tiri Pawanda is written by the legendary poet, Shaikh Ayaz, on pain of separation and meeting again [reuniting]. This has been a song I have wanted to do since a long time and it is to great credit to a dear friend, Sameer, who has sung it so beautifully.

It has been sung most memorably by the great Allan Fakir and Zareena Baloch (the single performance by Allan Fakir and their duet together) and most recently, The Sketches.

lyrics

Lyrics (with translation)

Tiri pawanda taari ayen, jadhen gaarha gul Alhomiyan
Tadhen milandaseen
(When on the branches red roses bloom, then we shall meet)

Hoo Allah
(O Lord)

Jadhen Warandyun koonjrun, har har kare, hul alhomiyan
tadhen milandaseen
(When little birds return, repeatedly chirping all around, then shall we meet)

Gulh ni Gorha timandaa, jadhen motin, gul alhomiyan
tadhen milandaseen
(When tears, resembling pearls, shall flow down the cheeks, then shall we meet... )

Wichoray jaa deehnraa, Bhorayee ji bhul alhomiyan
tadhen milandaseen
(When days of separation prove mistakes of ignorance, then shall we meet...)
